Here is to one of our favorite family holiday's!!! We had a great two days celebrating our Irish heritage. We started off Friday night with a new family tradition of making green cake cookies. Nora had fun adding the food coloring and covering them in powdered sugar.
On Saturday we headed downtown to the parade. Nora was supposed to be joining The Clark Academy of Irish Dance (CAID) for the parade. So we found Boo and Jalen and dropped off daddy and Stella and headed the 1/2 mile to the spot wear CAID was. By the time we got there Nora was so cold and crying that she said she didn't want to walk in the parade. So we were going to ride on the float. Well the float showed up and she lost it because it was too tall and she was scared of heights. Seriously?! So we sat there and she cried for a while about how all she wanted to do was go back to daddy and so that is what we ended up doing. I do have to say that the mom's that were there were pretty awesome and encouraging me about whatever choice we were going to make. So we walked the 1/2 mile back to where Peter and the rest of the clan was and sat and watched the parade. All Nora could do was say, "my dance school is coming! My dance school is coming!". CAID's float finally came and she was so excited and Mary Jo, the owner and her instructor ran up and gave her a big hug and it totally made Nora's day. We stayed for another 30 minutes and were all frozen so we went home.
Later Saturday we had friends and a few family over for corned beef and cabbage. It was a lot of fun, but a lot of work. I don't know if I will make corned beef and cabbage for 20 again. I will have it catered next time ;) But it was a lot of fun to spend the evening with a great group of people.
Today we woke up and went to church and visited with some irish friends and headed to my mom's for another round of corned beef and cabbage. The Bromeier girl grandchildren wore matching dresses! Next year we are going to have a tie made for Jalen! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!! And Happy Birthday Grandpa!
